Akron Art Prize 2015

Akron Art Prize 2015The Akron Art Prize is a competition for area artists. More than 200 of us will have artwork on display at various location in Akron during the month of September. Visitors are encouraged to check out the art, then vote for their favorites. The winner takes home a substantial $5000 prize!

My newest collage, “Roots and Roads #1” (pictured below), is my entry. Inspired by the idea that we need to be grounded in our past helps us grow toward our future, “Roots and Roads #1” explores the universal questions of where have we been and where are we going. It is made from old book pages, maps, thread, and acrylic paint.

It is on display at Palladian Palette, 106 N. Main St., 2nd fl., in the same building as Akron Glass Works.

Venues are open for viewing each Thursday-Saturday from 12-9 p.m.

The contest begins September 5th, and runs through the grand finale on October 3rd. If you have the chance, I’d encourage you to visit – and vote.
