Artists of Rubber City 24th Annual Juried Show

2014 Juried Show Artists of Rubber CityI have been surprised and delighted to learn that all 3 of the artworks I submitted to the Artists of Rubber City 24th Annual Juried Show have been accepted!

The show runs July 11 – August 23, 2014, with an opening reception on Friday, July 11th, from 5-8pm. The show will be on display at the BOX Gallery at Summit ArtSpace, 140 E. Market Street in Akron. You can visit Artists of Rubber City website here: http://artistsofrubbercity.org

My three pieces, pictured below, are all mixed-media collages. They are made with acrylic paint, handmade papers, pages from old books or maps, magazine images, plastic or tulle, and so on. All sorts of bits and pieces glued onto canvas. They are each 24 inches square.

“Tropical Arch” is the so-called oldest of the 3 pieces, having been done all the way back in February 2014. “New Orleans” is from May 2014, and “In The Garden” from June.

I’m looking forward to seeing the show once it’s on display. This is always a good show, with plenty of interesting work from local artists.

The opening reception is the same date and time as our 2nd Friday Art Hop, so I’m planning to stop by the reception right at 5, then “hop” on up to Hudson for the Art Hop. Busy evening but can’t wait!

Artists of Rubber City Honorable MentionUPDATE: At the opening reception, I was delighted to learn that “New Orleans” had been given an honorable mention!

Congratulations! Best of luck to you in the show! The shot of blue in the first one is terrific. The arch reminds me of a trip to Hawaii 🙂 And I love the flowers. The shapes and that shot of bright green!

Thanks, Sheila! Yeah, those blue shutters on the building in New Orleans just got me 🙂 The flowers were so much fun, and so summery. I’m working on more florals lately. Something new for me, but inspiration is all around 😉
